Can we truly rebalance life on Earth as we know it? Can we restore humanity's purpose? Can we avert a total Anthropogenic meltdown of global proportions?
I believe we can. And, I have some ideas.
In Greek mythology, Rhea was the daughter of Gaia, who represented the personification and ancestral motherhood of all life on Earth. Her father, Uranus, was the god of the skies. Rhea, like a lot of us, had a pretty messed up domestic homelife growing up. Her husband, Kronos, jealously began eating his children after discovering that one might attempt to take the throne from him. To protect her son, Zeus, the god of all gods, she tricked him and hid Zeus from Kronos in a cave.
RHEA, in this context, metaphorically represents our natural desire to protect life rather than destroy it. You see, even these ancient myths teach us that humanity has always struggled with its own dichotomy. Are we divine or human? What is our purpose?
Humanity has lost sight of its true purpose and, not unlike Kronos, we’ve jealously gobbled up all Earth's resources under guise of technological and supreme power. Yet, each of us can choose to selflessly protect future generations, just like Rhea did.
Our world is experiencing a great series of shifts, not just in our climate, but in every aspect of life; society, economy, and our very existential reality. These Anthropogenic shifts, while disruptive to the way of life on Earth as we've known it for thousands of years, also bring about tremendous opportunity for restoring balance and harmony to Earth -- not just for a few who grabbed power and wealth when the rest of us were not paying attention, but for every living being everywhere.
